  • The Symptoms, Signs, and Treatment of Osteoporosis

This article strives to prepare the reader for a common disease by imparting osteoporosis information. Osteoporosis takes place when an individual’s bones lose mineral mass and density. This makes them more susceptible to getting broken bones. Osteoporosis is considered an especially dangerous disease in part because it is often not detectable until a bone has been broken. However, it is a fairly common disease. In a healthy bone the outer layer (the cortical) is wrapped around the inner spongy bone (the trabecular). This entire body of bone consists largely of collagen, a fibrous protein. The remainder is a mineral consistency made up of calcium phosphate, calcium carbonate, and calcium hydroxide Osteoporosis occurs when the halls inside this spongy bone increase in number. The abnormal increase of the holes that fill the inner spongy part of weakens the internal structure of the bone, making it more prone to breaking. Medical authorities say that about one in three women will …

    Stroke Guide

A stroke is a severe medical condition that occurs abruptly without warning and adversely affects the brain. It is a condition that is usually as a result of poor blood flow to the brain and hence forcing the body into a temporary vegetable state. The time a stroke victim takes to be treated determines how the body resumes its normal bodily functions. The longer one takes to be treated, the more the individual is likely to develop permanent paralysis of some body parts. Stroke Causes: The brain is normally made of tiny blood vessels that just like any other part of the body. Sometimes the vessels may rapture hence preventing the normal blood flow to the brain. Apart from rapture, a blood clot within the vessels or a constriction can also hinder sufficient blood flow to the brain. When blood does not flow to the brain as it is required, it cuts out the oxygen and nutrients supply to the brain. When this occurs, the brain cells die due to lack of nutrients resulting in the …

  • Lymphoma

    Lymphoma Guide

Lymphoma is a type of cancer that develops in the body and within its own organs or within the lymphatic system, itself. The lymphatic system is responsible for carrying white blood cells and other types of fluids throughout the body. Its purpose is to fight viruses, infections and other bacteria through filtration in an attempt to keep the body healthy. Unfortunately, when its cells continually grow and become out of control, solid tumors can develop and grow. Because the lymphatic system naturally spreads throughout most of the body to serve it functions, this allows the cancer tumors to be found in such organs as the stomach and liver, to name only a few. They can also be found in the blood stream, but not often. A person who develops Lymphoma can have Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma or Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Hodgkin’s Lymphoma has cancer cells that behave differently than Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. These cells are more uniform acting in that they will go from one area of lymph nodes to …

ADHD Guide

ADHD is a combination of attention deficit and hyperactivity. It's a problem that develops in children at a very young age usually before 7 years old. A lot of times kids that develop this disorder have problems in school due to the lack of attentiveness as well as calmness in the class or trying to get assignments done. The interesting thing about ADHD is that 30-50 percent of those diagnosed normally have this even into adulthood. However, they learn to cope with these mechanisms as they get use to these symptoms. While it is important to diagnose these symptoms as early as possible, children can exhibit this type of behavior every once in a while. It's normal for a kid under 5 or 6 to not be able to keep attention to certain things because the brain is still in the early development stages. Likewise, for little kids to be a bit hyperactive. It's only a problem when they have trouble controlling this behavior especially in a setting that calls for the opposite, that should begin to …
